Industry Recognition
CHG was honoured to have been a joint winner in the inaugural WorkCover SA Recovery and Return to Work Awards in 2007. The award recognises a health provider’s best practice services in returning patients to work and/or the community. The criteria for this award were:
- Demonstrated strong commitment to improved health outcomes, recovery and return to work or the community of injured workers.
- Demonstrated creative intervention strategies (innovation).
- Excellence in implementation.
- Adopting an integrated or tailored approach.
We believe CHG was recognised as winners in this category due to the outcomes that are achieved through our integrated model and inter-disciplinary workforce.
Cost Effective Return to Work
In 2007, a WorkCover SA analysis of treating general practitioners showed that less than 1% of GPs –16 in total – were responsible for treating 16% of WorkCover claimants. These “high volume” GPs were found to:
- Have better outcomes in the first two weeks of injury
- Have fewer cases progress to an income maintenance claim
- Provide services at a lower cost than other GPs.
CHG is proud to note that of these 16 highest performing GPs, 9 were from CHG’s clinics at Mile End, Gillman and Elizabeth Vale.
Rehabilitation Outcomes
CHG provides rehabilitation services for WorkCover SA and Comcare. In South Australia, WorkCover claims agent Employers Mutual produce a quarterly analysis of provider performance benchmarked against other providers. Results for the quarter ending December 2009 demonstrate that CHG consistently achieved return to work outcomes higher than the average across South Australian rehabilitation providers, as shown in this table.
